Late Edition: Obama economics adviser Furman, McCain adviser Pfotenhauer sparred over economics. Pfotenhauer said McCain would be "open" to another economic stimulus, called Obama the first protectionist nominee of her lifetime. Furman criticized McCain for seeking to lower corporate income tax rates.

Sen. Dodd declined to comment on possibly being vetted as an Obama running mate, saying only Obama "will make a great choice." Also called Sen. Lieberman a friend, said he would not support stripping his chairmanship if he speaks at the GOP convention.

Dodd also insisted Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac are "sound" and "in good shape." Said Phill Gramm reflects attitude toward economy of McCain and the Bush administration.

Sen. Kyl said Obama's stance is "just say no" to all new energy production, stressed that McCain has distanced himself from Gramm.

This Week: Gov. Schwarzenegger criticized the Bush administration on global warming. Praised McCain for his bipartisanship, and said on Iraq "he is just saying it the way it is." Declined to criticize Obama, and batted away the idea of his serving in a McCain administration.

Said both candidates should reach across party lines and feel comfortable adjusting their positions: "'Flip-flopping' is getting a bad rap."

Said McCain adviser Steve Schmidt, his former campaign chief, is "an extrordinary organizer." "He is very convicing when he speaks... He has a great visiton, and he goes after that vision."

Meet the Press: McCain adviser Fiorina, Obama supporter Sen. McCaskill jousted primarily over economic policy. Asked about Gramm, Fiorina said most voters don't care what surrogates say. The two ended with a smiling handshake.
