Face the Nation: Kicked off airing 10-minutes of taped interview with Obama in Afghanistan.

Treasury Secretary Paulson discussed economic woes, said major problems are the housing crisis, turmoil in capital markets and high oil prices. Said a slowed economy is going to continue for awhile -- at least months. Reassured Americans on Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac, bank failures.

Fox News Sunday: Adm. Michael Mullen discussed Bush's meeting with Maliki on timetables, said withdrawing troops within two years could be "very dangerous" and should depend on conditions on the ground. Reiterated he'll likely be able to recommend Bush can withdraw more troops in the fall. Doesn't think there's evidence that the U.S. should shift resources to Afghanistan just yet.

Sen. Lieberman defended McCain on Iraq, Afghanistan policies. Said if U.S. had followed his Obama's Iraq plan he "couldn't go to Iraq today. It wouldn't be safe." Added people shouldn't be fooled by the veep speculation around him -- "it's not going to happen." Said he'll speak at the Republican convention if McCain asks him, even if it threatens his relationship with the Dems. Said he wouldn't go to attack Obama but express his support for McCain.

Sen. Bayh called Obama's judgment  on Iraq "excellent from the beginning," suggested McCain opposed surging troops in Afghanistan til last week. Defended Obama's choice to deliver a big overseas speech in Germany, dodged all veep questions, including if he was being vetted.

Meet the Press: Gore detailed his energy proposal, defended it from critics who said it's too ambitious and costly. Said it's competitive now for the country to switch over to renewable energies, cost is comparable to what we would spend on oil/coal in next 10 years and is less than what has been spent on Iraq. “The only limiting factor here is political will.”

Commented on Boone T. Pickens' energy plan, doesn't see him as a competitor. Disagreed with the premise of a gas tax holiday but wouldn't go as far as labeling Clinton “irresponsible” for suggesting it. Tamped down veep talk, praised Clinton's candidacy.

Late Edition: Condoleezza Rice discussed diplomatic meeting with Iran, the "time horizon" for Iraq. Said "we're about half way there" on the Middle East peace process. Added she tells "everybody who will listen" she's not interested in the Veep slot, Obama's success is great for blacks.

Aired more from Pelosi interview, shown earlier this week.

House Minority Whip Blunt disagreed with Pelosi on drilling for oil. On Democrats' proposal for a second stimulus, said it has to be significant and happen in a hurry if it will work. Said he'll keep an open mind, but is unsure if it's just a political move in an election year. Commented on Maliki withdrawal statement. Called Obama trip a “prove-I'm-right-mission” instead of a “fact-finding” one.

Paulson made similar comments as on “Face the Nation,” said there's “no silver bullet” to help turn the economy around, need to push through rough times. Called the banking system “a safe and sound one.”
