Rev. Jackson on Thursday's Morning Shows

Jackson appears on several morning shows following his crude criticism of Obama. Click above to watch him on “Good Morning America.”

On CNN: Called his remarks “ugly and unnecessary,” adding “it was a private conversation, and it was unfortunate.” Said it “didn't even occur to me” his words were being recorded.

As for the substance of his comments, said the country needs government initiatives as well as faith-based initiatives to address urban problems. Also says “his campaign represents the redemption of our country.”

On ABC: Jackson said he believes his comments do not reflect a broader sentiment within the black community, though he suggested Obama should address urban problems with “more passion.” Suggested his son's criticism of him was fair.

On CBS: Said he made his comment because he supports Obama's campaign so strongly, and said “I really don't” believe that Obama talks down to black people. Of Obama said “our relationship is intact,” though he has not spoken to Obama.

On MSNBC: Called his comment “unfortunate trash talk that has no place coming from me or anyone” and he is “very contrite.”
