When asked Monday afternoon why Charlie Black was not traveling with the campaign this week, McCain said he was simply rotating in and out different aides.
“I have Mark Salter along,” McCain said, pointing to senior aide Mark Salter. “These guys generally rotate. It's too much to take in large doses. It's just rotation.”
In response to a second question asking if Black was off the campaign due to his controversial remarks to a Fortune reporter, McCain said, “No, as you know I strongly disagreed and he apologized, and I don't know what else you can do in that situation.”
