Pool Report of McCain's Wisconsin Coffee Stop
Pool report
Good morning. Even as the iPhone 3G was going on sale across the
country, your committed print pooler was following the Republican
presidential nominee.
Sen. John McCain (and his multi-car/bus entourage) made a brief
stop at J.W. Kaladi's Gourmet Coffee, a family-owned coffee and
sandwich stop in Hudson Wisconsin, to have a brief conversation with a
group of women business owners. (Names to follow, according to the
campaign.)
The shop is the home of "Chicago Dogs, sandwiches, Java Latte, and
Gelato." At the front door were two (almost) life-sized cutouts of
John McCain and Ronald Reagan standing next to each other. The real
John McCain appeared not to notice them on the way in with Cindy.
There were six women, sitting around a couple of tables that had
been moved together, waiting for McCain to arrive. There were two
empty seats that the McCain's took when they sat down just after 9:30
a.m.
John McCain said "Good Morning. Nice to see you." about 20 times,
and was introduced to the employees by the owner of the establishment,
a woman. He then sat down with what appeared to be a page or more of
prepared remarks and your pool was ushered out -- sans latte.
