Pool Report of McCain, Gordon Brown Initial Chit Chat

Prime Minister Gordon Brown received John McCain at the British Ambassador's residence in Washington. The spray was set up in two parts - first, a 30 second walk down a hallway, and then another 30 seconds while Brown and McCain made small talk.

They walked down the hallway together, chatting and smiling. They stopped in front of the cameras and Prime Minister Brown said "let's stop and shake hands here." They did, smiling.

Then they proceeded into a parlor and sat in chairs facing one another. Your pool could hear snippets of the conversation, which was about the presidential election.

Notes not quotes:
Brown said that it seems like the presidential election has been going on for a year. McCain said that it had been. McCain said that it sometimes made one wish for the British system, for its expedient elections. Brown chuckled and says that it does have its advantages, but disadvantages as well.

Then we were ushered out.
