Pool Report: Obama Goes Golfing, July 4 Festivities

Golfarama and Foo Fighters

President Obama, after headiing to the Oval Office upon his return this morning, broke out for the links shortly after lunchtiime.
Motorcade departed the South Lawn at 1:26p. No intersection control in downtown DC or after the motorcade got off the Interstate. Arrival at Ft. Belvoir course at 2:04.

Obama emerged from the residence a minute before departing for the gollf course and surveyed the scene of tonight's backyard barbecue for military families, in the process of setup now. Lots of red, white and blue in evidence--bunting draped from the iron railings on the South Portico, alternating solid-color red and blue and white cloths on the table (centerpieces are large square flats of what appears to be either chives or deep rough at some high-end golf course), dozen of large, white Japanese lanterns hung from the trees on the lawn.
Obama just missed the conclusion of the Foo Fighters' extended sound check for this evening's show, but there's no way he could have missed hearing the music from inside. The sound quality was excellent, and quite loud. As you probably know, the post-grunge band, currently on hiatus, is helmed by David Grohl, formerly of Nirvana, a local guy from Northern Virginia. Band members, clearly pleased to be on the grounds, snapped photos of one another on stage with famous landmarks (White House, Washington Monument)  in the background.
Only golfing partner sighted was Reggie Love, but Marvin Nicholson is also playing, according to the press office.

Your pool, having savored its private Foo Fighters concert on this stellar holiday afternoon, is now holding at the course.
