Pool Report: Obama at Arlington National Cemetary Wreath Laying

Ceremony began at 11:10.

Gene A. Crayton, president of the Paralyzed Veterans of America, gave Welcome Remarks, saying "Today, we celebrate them all."

Next, Secy. of Veterans Affairs Eric K. Shinseki spoke. "Our warriors have earned the respect of a grateful nation," he said.

Next, POTUS spoke. Transcript to come, but here are a few highlights:

"I am honored to spend this Veterans Day with you in this sacred place" adding that veterans "chose to serve a cause greater than self" and that "there is no tribute, no praise that can honor your sacrifice... As long as I'm Commander-in-Chief, America will do right by them."

Motorcade left amphitheater at 11:30, making an unscheduled stop at Section 60 (which is for military killed in Iraq and Afghanistan).

For about 10 minutes, POTUS and FLOTUS, accompanied by Gen. Karl Horst (who is Commanding General, Joint Force Headquarters)and his wife Nancy Horst, walked through the cemetery. POTUS spoke to several people who were there visiting graves.

POTUS stopped at the grave of Spc. Ross McGinnis, a Medal of Honor recipient. POTUS bent down to do something at grave. Pool was not in position to see exactly what.

Pool back at White House after uneventful ride from cemetery.
