Meet the Press (with Brian Williams): Sens. Biden, Graham made no big news but did have a spirited debate about campaign finance, Iran/Afghanistan, trade, and energy. Graham returned again and again to the theme of “ you can't trust Obama,” while Biden conceded that Obama had changed his position on public financing and said his decision would hurt the system, but defended the switch. Biden also defended Obama on trade and Afghanistan, and hit McCain and Bush on everything. Biden suggested he had conveyed to Obama that he didn't want to be on the ticket, but said he would serve if asked. Harwood/Mitchell on the roundtable talked about veep prospects Bayh, Strickland, Biden, Nunn and GOPers Portman, Crist, Pawlenty. They also cautioned on the Newsweek poll indicated a double-digit lead for Obama.
Face the Nation: Gov. Richardson defended Obama on public financing, while Carly Fiorina kept up criticism. On oil, Richardson accused McCain of continuing Bush's "drill, drill, drill" policy. Also discussed McCain's proposal for town hall meetings.
Fox News Sunday: Daschle, Tom Ridge sparred on Supreme Court decision, energy policy, Obama's flip-flop on campaign financing. Asked if his abortion views would be a problem in a potential McCain administration, Ridge said "I believe what I believe."
McCain camp attacks Daschle for suggesting "no outcome in Iraq justifies Barack Obama reconsidering his strategy of immediate withdrawal." Read statement.
