Obama Release on Economic Agenda

Next Week: Obama Will Highlight Plans to Strengthen Economic Security for American Families

Will Campaign in States Won by Bush in 2000 and 2004

CHICAGO, IL - Next week, Senator Obama will continue his aggressive effort to expand the 2008 electoral battleground by campaigning in states that President Bush won during the general election in 2000 and 2004. Over the course of the week, Senator Obama will discuss his plans to strengthen the economic security of families feeling the strain of the faltering economy.

Senator Obama will kickoff the week by hosting a discussion on economic security for American's families in Charlotte, North Carolina. On Tuesday, he will host a town hall meeting in Atlanta, Georgia. After speaking to LULAC Wednesday in Washington D.C., Senator Obama will wrap up the week by campaigning in Virginia and Ohio.

Next week's campaign swing comes after Obama spent a week campaigning in traditionally red states in the Midwest and Mountain West, including Missouri, Ohio, Colorado, North Dakota and Montana. Obama's itinerary demonstrates his commitment to expanding the electoral battleground and building on the 50-state strategy that includes deploying and maintaining staff in every single state to register new voters and bring people back into the political process. The network of volunteers and the infrastructure built up during the historic primary season-on behalf of all the Democratic campaigns-have given Obama an enormous and unprecedented opportunity in the general election.

At each stop, Senator Obama will continue talking to Americans about how the economy affects their everyday lives. At the events, he'll discuss with Americans the challenges we face and his plans to turn the economy around. The choice in this election is a choice between more of the same policies that have widened inequality, added to our debt, and shaken the foundation of our economy, or change that will reward hard work with a decent living; that will invest in the ingenuity and innovation of our people; that will fuel a bottom-up prosperity to keep America strong and competitive in the 21st century.

Additional details about Senator Obama's travel next week will be announced as they become available.
