Obama on Malia Test Scores

From Politico:

"Toward the end of his remarks, POTUS gives a rare glimpse into the details of how one of his daughters is doing in school, an ad-libbed moment that allowed him to be the proud parent."

"'These aren't in my prepared remarks, but I think it's important to note,' Obama begins, saying out how great his wife, Michelle, and daughters, Sasha and Malia, are.  But, he says, sometimes 'kids slack off... And part of our job as parents is not to just tell our kids what to do but to start instilling in them the sense that they want to do it themselves.'"

"Recently, he says, sixth grader Malia got 73 percent on a test."

"'She was depressed. She got a 73,' Obama says, explaining that she told him why she didn't do so well and what she planned to do about it."

"'So she came home yesterday and got a 95,' Obama boasts, adding that his daughter told him: 'I just like having knowledge.'"
