Obama Campaign Talking Points

Barack Obama is the best candidate to bring about fundamental change

* The question you have to ask yourself when you walk into that caucus is this – who can take this country in a fundamentally new direction? Everyone in this race is talking about change, but Barack Obama is the only candidate with a record of actually taking power away from lobbyists, bringing Republicans and Democrats together to do things like expand health care and provide tax relief, and telling people not just what they want to hear, but what they need to hear – like when he opposed the war in Iraq from the start. The real gamble in this election is playing the same Washington game with the same Washington players and expecting a different result. And that's a risk we can't afford to take – not when the stakes are this high.

Obama is heading into caucus night with the most momentum

* Barack Obama is generating the most momentum in this race. The Des Moines Register poll that came out the other day showed Obama leading with 32 percent, compared to 25 percent for Hillary Clinton and 24 percent for John Edwards. The poll also showed that Iowans believe that the two most important qualities in choosing the next President are the ability to bring about change and the ability to unify America . Barack Obama leads in both of those categories.

* This poll reflects what we're seeing across the state. Obama has been drawing consistently larger crowds than either Clinton or Edwards. He also has the strongest grassroots organization in the state, with 37 field offices and thousands of active volunteers.

Barack Obama is our party's best chance of winning in November

* The reason Barack Obama is generating so much momentum and excitement is that Iowans know he's our party's best chance of winning in November. Polls show that Obama attracts more Independents and Republicans than any other candidate. That's why he won some of the reddest, most Republican counties when he ran for Senate in Illinois . And that's why a recent poll showed that Obama is the only Democrat who can beat all five top Republicans.

All Iowans should caucus tonight and make history.
