NBC's "Today" noted McCain failed to mention some of his signature issues -- including campaign finance, immigration reform, climate change -- in front of the "party faithful." Said most powerful attacks against Obama came when describing his POW record.
ABC's "Good Morning America" said Palin is Obama's new challenge, he will be dispatching a number of high profile Democratic women -- including Clinton -- to counter Palin's appeal.
Stephanopoulos weighed in on McCain's speech, saying the policies he laid out "were exactly what we've been hearing for the last eight years."
McCain topper Steve Schmidt on "Today," reiterated McCain's speech talking points, said Obama has a record of changing things "like I have a full head of hair." Argued about press coverage of Palin, suggested the press goes easy on Obama. Also on CBS' "The Early Show."
Obama strategist Axelrod on "The Early Show" dismissed polling showing Obama, McCain in a dead heat. Gave Democratic talking points in response to McCain speech.
McCain camp manager Rick Davis on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" spent most of the segment arguing about press coverage of Palin, downplayed Palin's need to do interviews with the press. Dismissed reports that people within the campaign told McCain he couldn't pick Lieberman for veep.
Obama communications director Robert Gibbs on "Morning Joe" said convention was mostly about attacking the Dems, lacked substance, adding Sen. Lindsey Graham "sounded like Neidermeyer from Animal House last night."
Suggested there should be more talk about what McCain brings to the ticket instead of putting all focus on Palin. Also on CNN's "American Morning."
