Morning Show Summary

Various Networks

Clinton hits the three network morning shows:

On NBC’s “Today,” Clinton declined to say if she’ll continue past March 4, saying “I don’t make predictions.”

Meredith Vieira: So no matter what happens in Texas and Ohio, you will go on?

Clinton: Well Meredith, I don’t make predictions. I never have, I never will. I just get up every day and do the best I can to let people know what I have done, what I am doing and what I will do.

Also on “Today,” Clinton sidestepped question about whether her “xerox” comment about Obama’s speeches will backfire. Also declined to comment on NY Times story about McCain, though took the chance to slam his comments about Iraq and the economy.

On ABC’s “Good Morning America,” she reiterated closing debate lines about how personal the race is for her. Brushed off husband’s comments about Texas, Ohio being do-or-die, saying she doesn’t “make predictions.” Said she’s talked to Edwards since her meeting, talked emotionally about Chelsea being with her on the stump.
On CBS’ “Early Show,” denied that her emotional final debate answer was a “valedictory” to her campaign. Also denied suggestion that “the fight” had left her during debate, saying it was probably lack of sleep instead.

Obama’s David Axelrod on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” said he was pleased with Obama’s debate performance, knocked what Clinton said on Iraq. Was asked to name one thing Obama has accomplished as a Senator and named four, contrasted on Iraq.

Clinton’s Howard Wolfson also on “Morning Joe” joked with the crew, highlighted that Texas state rep. being unable to name Obama accomplishments is “indicitive” that he’s not running on record of achievement. Noted Clinton’s emotional debate moment, downplayed campaign money issues saying spending has been “appropriate” and “prudent.” Said he expects Clinton to go through convention.
