More on McCain's Morning Interviews
On ABC's "Good Morning America":
Slighted Obama's "fundamental misjudgment" on the surge and said he should acknowledge he was wrong. Asked if situation in Afghanistan is "precarious and urgent," as Obama says, replied it is "very serious."
Asked if press coverage of Obama's trip is unfair, laughed and said "it is what it is," and the American people can decide for themselves. Deflected VP questions.
On NBC's "Today":
McCain criticized Obama for opposing the surge, said he "badly misjudged the situation and he was wrong." Said the military would have pulled out in defeat in March if Obama had been in charge.
Told he has missed all Senate Afghanistan hearings over the last two years, McCain said "I know the issues extremely well" and pointed out Obama was the chairman of a key subcommittee and never held a heading on the subject.
Said he has "far more experience on the economy" than Obama, said Phil Gramm was merely one of several economic advisers.
McCain resisted efforts by Meredith Vieira to break in to his comments, at times speaking over her questions.
On CBS' "Early Show":
Repeated that the U.S. would have withdrawn from Iraq before the surge if Obama had been in charge, and the the country would face "enormous consequences of defeat."
