Congress of the United States
Washington, DC 20515
January 9, 2009

Dear Mr. President-Elect,

We would like to extend our congratulations to you on your election as the 44th President of the United States. In accordance with your campaign pledge to work in a bipartisan manner and change the partisan tone in Washington, D.C., we would like to extend an invitation to you to address a meeting of the House Republican Conference at your earliest convenience following your inauguration.

House Republicans stand ready to work with you to restore economic prosperity in America, and we do not want partisan differences to stall achievement in those areas where we share common goals on behalf of the American people. We hope this will be the beginning of a positive working relationship with House Republicans at the start of your Administration.

We look forward to hearing from you or your office.

Sincerely,

Rep. John Boehner (R-OH)
Republican Leader

Rep. Eric Cantor (R-VA)
Republican Whip

Rep. Mike Pence (R-IN)

Rep. Thaddeus McCotter (R-MI)

Rep. Cathy McMorris Rogers (R-WA)
Conference Vice-Chairman

Rep. John Carter (R-TX)
Conference Secretary

Rep. Pete Sessions (R-TX)
