Falling in Love

9:20 am ET

My Q/A with Jets owner and Romney fundraising honcho Woody Johnson in which he disputes John Boehner’s supposition that America won’t fall in love with Mitt Romney:

HALPERIN: “So, a few weeks ago, Speaker Boehner said something to the effect of, you know, America is not going to fall in love with Mitt Romney. That’s not what this is about. After this week, do you think America has fallen in love with Mitt Romney?”

JOHNSON: “I absolutely do. I think particularly Ann Romney, probably more so. But, yeah, I don’t think Boehner was correct about that. I think people are probably in love with what Romney represents and he can remedy a lot of what’s wrong with the country. Hopefully the people got the sense that he’s done this his whole life and he’s got the heart to do and he’s a very compassionate person and he cares about people. He cares about the country. He loves being an American and the promise of America. And he can fix this.”
