We are all still trying to figure out the circumstances of Romney’s departure from Bain (and waiting to hear from the candidate himself, which is really what it will take to clear things up).

In the meantime, this Steve Kornacki piece adds some important, objective context and facts to the years in question.

The most important point here: When Romney left to run the Olympics, there was no reason for him to think he would be running for public office in the Bay State any time soon.
