
If there’s one fight the President thinks he can win, it is the one pitting tax-cuts-for-the-wealthy versus deficit-reduction-and-key-government-programs. He’s never won that battle cleanly — and lost it at least twice in 2010 — but this time he has a human opponent with a name and a face on the other side. Monday’s event was a pretty good start on framing the issue. You can bet the family farm that the President is looking forward to talking about these issues in the fall formal debates.
