Without mentioning Santorum by name, President pushes back against weekend statement calling Obama an education “snob.”

Obama: “When I speak about higher education we’re not just talking about a four-year degree….That manufacturing job…they can’t go in there unless they’ve got some basic training beyond what they received in high school.”

On MSNBC, Pennsylvanian’s spox tries to clarify, says Santorum believes “trade schools, technical colleges…and other ways of training yourself for manufacturing jobs” are good alternatives.

Carney weighs in during WH daily briefing: “I don’t think any parent in U.S. …would think it’s snobbery to hope for that child the best possible education in the future.”
