Unemployment falls as the economy adds 243,000 jobs in January, easily beating expectations.

WH Council of Economic Advisers chair Krueger: “Today’s employment report provides further evidence that the economy is continuing to heal from the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression.”

Republicans are left to say "great — but it should be better." However, the truest piece of conventional wisdom in presidential politics is that the trend matters for an incumbent more than the absolute numbers on the economy. The President has had a lot of good political days of late — this could well be the best, as his victory lap demonstrates.
