Santorum Squish Slips on Romney ’08 Backing and Abortion

Ditching his trademark sweater vest for a suit on NBC’s “Meet the Press” Sunday, Iowa high flier says he only vouched for Mitt during the last cycle because he didn’t like McCain.

“I made the political judgment, right or wrong, that [Romney was] the best chance to stop John McCain…It’s not like I was an early supporter of Romney. I endorsed him, actually, seven days before he dropped out of the race.”

AND: Ex-PA Sen. gives cloudy answer on rape/incest exceptions for abortion.

“Today, I would support laws that would provide for those exceptions but I’m not for them.”

Santorum downplays lack of DC support.

Keystone Stater: “I don’t need or want Washington endorsements. I’m here to change Washington.”
