Telling a West Des Moines audience the 12-member committee “is the dumbest idea I have seen in a very long lifetime,” the Georgian says the threat of a 25 percent across-the-board cut is “totally artificial.”
Gingrich: “The politicians in Washington in both parties failed to achieve an intelligent solution in the summer, kicked the ball down the road, and are now in the process of failing to achieve an intelligent solution in the fall…It’s as though somebody walked in and said, ‘You know, I’m under instructions to shoot you in the head unless you have me cut off your leg.’”
