And/but Obama leads potential GOP challengers in head-to-head match-ups.

Given the state of the economy, it is remarkable how well the President's poll numbers are holding up. Previous troubled incumbents, such as Bill Clinton, were way down in hypothetical match-ups around this time in their first terms. As has been said before, Obama has a ceiling, but his floor is more politically important at this point.
