In Tar Heel interview with Alphabet Web’s Tapper, Obama compares OWS to Tea Party and says again that he understands “the frustrations being expressed in those protests.”
As the spirited debate on "Morning Joe" made clear, there is divided opinion about whether it would be politically smart for the President to hug OWS more closely than he has. The White House is apparently comfortable with the current strength of presidential embrace. The Chattering Class probably sees a stronger endorsement by Obama as politically dangerous and the left hasn't visibly demanded the White House speak more favorably of the movement.
