Two for the Price of One


Wrapping up his bus tour at a North Chesterfield, VA fire house, the President says jobs plan to help “reopen firehouses.”

Adds GOP jobs plan prioritizes peeling back regulations — “dirty water, dirty air” — over putting first responders back to work.

EARLIER: Michelle Obama gives rousing, masterful speech saluting military families — and her husband follows at Langley-Eustis Joint Base in Hampton, VA.

Taking the stage after his wife, Obama says he married up, goal for men is “to improve the gene pool.”

YESTERDAY: On campaign-style swing through NC, VA Tues., tells high school audience to demand Senate pass AJA to “put those teachers back to work.”

Repeats applause line: “I don’t care if you’re Republican or a Democrat. This is not the Republican Jobs Act. This is not the Democratic Jobs Act. This is called the American Jobs Act.”

Tells the top 1%, “you can afford” tax increase.

Obama: “Wherever we have the possibility to work together and move this economy forward, I’m going to seize on this opportunity.”

Watch the First Lady's full performance if you have time. To be sure, she cares deeply about issues involving military families. But the tone and passion of her remarks show why she is going to be an electoral force in '12 — at places and times of her choosing.
