Perry Introducer Questions Romney’s Faith

Dr. Robert Jeffress, at Value Voters, unmistakably suggests that Perry is the better choice because he’s “born-again follower of Jesus Christ.”

To reporters after his remarks, Jeffress repeats past statements suggesting Romney is in a “cult” because he is a Mormon.

Perry spox Mark Miner on his boss and Mormon faith: Perry “does not believe it is a cult.”

Campaign also says it didn’t pick Jeffress to intro Perry.

AND: Cain, arriving at Summit, tells reporters: “No comment…I respect everyone’s religious beliefs, and Mormonism has been around a long time.”

Jeffress: “Do we want a candidate who is skilled in rhetoric or one who is skilled in leadership? Do we want a candidate who is a conservative out of convenience or one who is a conservative out of deep conviction? Do we want a candidate who is a good, moral person – or one who is a born-again follower of the lord Jesus Christ?”
