Christie says at Reagan Library look at past denials on ’12 bid; “those are my answers,” but pointedly never repeats position he won’t make the race.

Asked to reconsider (“We need you — your country needs you.”), NJ Guv winks, laughs, and says, “I hear exactly what you are saying…it touches me….I feel like the luckiest guy in the world….It’s extraordinarily flattering….The reason [to run] has to reside within me….”

And/but: TIME, NYTimes and Politico all have Christie sources who say he is still considering a run.

Sifting through the tweets, headlines, and ledes of all the Christie coverage, it seems the nation lacks clarity on what the governor of New Jersey intended (and intends). It is clear that Christie didn't want any definitive statement about '12 to overshadow the speech's content (and it was a very well written set of remarks). It is also clear that Christie has taken some steps to explore a possible run. If he is struck in the next ten days with the feeling in his gut he should run, he just might, regardless of the take-away from some that he ruled it out Tuesday. If he doesn't run, Romney and Perry should study that text (and offer to buy it from Christie).
