Remarkably Consistent

Texan leads pack — again — in NBC News/Wall Street Journal and POLITICO/GWU Battleground polls.

Perry 38               Perry 36
Romney 23
          Romney 17
Paul 9                   Bachmann 10

Bachmann 8
       Paul 10
Gingrich 5
           Gingrich 5
Cain 5                   Santorum 5

Santorum 3         Cain 4

Huntsman 2        Huntsman 1

Plus: In hypothetical election, Obama leads Perry 47-42%, Romney 46-45%, per NBC/WSJ poll.

We've now had a significant series of national polls showing Perry and Romney at roughly the same level of support. The real danger for Romney will come if Perry's standing ticks up in the hypothetical match-up with Obama. That would push some bundlers (and electability-minded voters) towards the Texan.
