While at the World Trade Center site, the President and First Lady will visit the North Memorial Pool and participate in the 10th Anniversary Commemoration Ceremony at the National September 11th Memorial site.

The north Memorial pool sits in the footprint of the north tower (formerly 1 World Trade Center). Waterfalls cascade down all four sides of the pool, falling 30 feet and then flowing to an inner void, the bottom of which cannot be seen standing on the plaza. Around the perimeters of the pools are the names of the victims of 9/11 and the 1993 bombing, inscribed into bronze parapets at waist height.

The President and First Lady will be joined at the North Memorial Pool by former President George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Bush. They will walk along the edge of the pool and observe a moment of silence in front of the memorial wall. After the moment of silence, the President and First Lady will greet family members from the 9/11 Memorial Board and elected officials gathered nearby.

Following their visit to the North Memorial Pool, the President and First Lady will proceed to the National September 11th Memorial site to participate in the 10th Anniversary Commemoration Ceremony. The President will read a passage from Psalm 46.
