In the morning, the President will travel to Memphis, Tennessee. The President’s departure from the South Lawn and the arrival at Memphis International Airport are open press.
While in Memphis, the President will meet with families impacted by the flooding, state and local officials, first responders and volunteers. This meeting is closed press.
In the afternoon, the President will deliver the commencement address at Booker T. Washington High School, the winner of the 2011 Race to the Top Commencement Challenge. The President’s commencement address is open press.
Later in the afternoon, the President will return to Washington, DC. The President’s departure from Memphis International Airport and the arrival on the South Lawn are open press.
In the evening, the President will welcome the University of Connecticut men’s basketball team for a ceremony honoring their 2011 NCAA national championship in the East Room. This ceremony is open press. In addition to the ceremony, members of the team will host a basketball clinic at the White House for local youth, continuing the President’s tradition of sports champions serving in the community when they visit. In the evening, the President will deliver remarks at two DNC events in Washington, DC. The first is print pool only and the second is pooled for TV, open to pre-credentialed correspondents and still photographers.
