Syria, WikiLeaks and deb ceiling top the agenda in Carney’s session with reporters.

Highlights from Carney’s presser:

“We condemn the behavior we’ve seen.”

“We are pursuing a range of possible options,” including sanctions.

Having ambassador in Syria has allowed admin to “make our views known directly”…. it has been “useful” to have him there.

On monthly AfPak meeting:
“This is not a decisional meeting.”

On latest WikiLeaks cables:
It’s “unfortunate” that media has published documents that were obtained in an “illegal” way.

On the debt ceiling:
“Severe” consequences if debt ceiling isn’t raised.

“It would be a terrible folly to play games with this.”
