“Do I Know Better Than Them? Yes”

AG Holder says Congress doesn’t know 9/11 cases as well as he does.

“We simply cannot allow a trial to be delayed any longer.”

Highlights from Holder’s presser:

“We were prepared to bring a powerful case” against KSM, conspirators. “Confident” that justice system could have performed well in federal court.

“Members of Congress have intervened.” They have “tied our hands in a way that could have serious ramifications.”

Pledges to continue to seek repeal of those restrictions.

“We simply cannot allow a trial to be delayed any longer.”

Has “full faith and confidence” in military system as the trial moves forward.

Attacks on federal courts “simply wrong.”

“Our heritage… our legacy” depends on faith in federal court system.

Wow. For a Cabinet member to say in public that he knows better than Congress is quite unusual and unexpected. In private, Cabinet secretaries all think exactly that on a regular basis but to give it voice at the same time as caving to Congress' view is a pretty amazing deal. From the beginning of the Obama administration, some of Holder's colleagues have questioned his political acumen. This one speaks for itself.
