Libya, Japan top the agenda in Carney's session with reporters.

Highlights from Wednesday's briefing:

President spoke to Kings of Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, expressed "deep concern" about violence in Bahrain and urged restraint.

On Libya:
Carney reiterates that violence in nation has been "abhorrent," says administration's actions have been "significant" and "highly coordinated."

On Japan:
"We are working with the Japanese who have the lead on this very critical situation."

"I will not judge the Japanese evaluation of data." But says advice is "different" than what U.S. would give. "It's not about the quality of information... it's about our analysis and our standards."

On missing NYT journalists:
President is aware of situation and WH "strongly" urges protection of journalists in the region. "Do not in any way harass...or detain" reporters.

On Davis:
U.S. "welcomes" the release of Davis.
