Boehner: “Today’s decision affirms the view, held by most of the states and a majority of the American people, that the federal government should not be in the business of forcing you to buy health insurance and punishing you if you don’t.”

Pawlenty: “I was proud to join this federal lawsuit challenging Obamacare’s individual mandate and am optimistic that higher courts will uphold the ruling.”

Rubio: “Today’s ruling marks an important step towards undoing a health care law that creates uncertainty for job creators, threatens Medicare as Floridians know it and lays the foundation for government-run health care.”

Scott: “In making his ruling, the judge has confirmed what many of us knew from the start; ObamaCare is an unprecedented and unconstitutional infringement on the liberty of the American people.”

Speaker Boehner Applauds Ruling on Job-Destroying Health Care Law, Calls for Expedited Review

Washington (Jan 31)
House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) issued the following statement welcoming U.S. District Court Judge Robert Vinson of Florida’s ruling that the job-destroying health care law is unconstitutional, and calling for expedited review of his decision:

“Today’s decision affirms the view, held by most of the states and a majority of the American people, that the federal government should not be in the business of forcing you to buy health insurance and punishing you if you don’t. It’s not only unconstitutional, it’s also unaffordable. This job-destroying health care law remains a major source of uncertainty for small businesses, which is why all parties involved should request that this case be sent to the U.S. Supreme Court for a swift and fair resolution. Of course, the easiest way to protect the American people from this job-destroying health care law is to repeal it so we can start over with common-sense reforms that lower costs and protect jobs without unconstitutional mandates, new taxes, and costly penalties. The House has passed legislation to do just that, and I hope that Senate Democratic leaders will bring up the measure for an up-or-down vote.”

Pawlenty Statement on Federal Court Ruling on Obamacare

“Today’s court ruling correctly affirms that President Obama and the Democratic-controlled Congress’s health care takeover violates the U.S. Constitution. An individual health-care mandate is an unconstitutional power grab by the Federal government and drags our health care system in the wrong direction. This ruling is a big victory for states’ rights, the U.S. Constitution and market-based health care reform. I was proud to join this federal lawsuit challenging Obamacare’s individual mandate and am optimistic that higher courts will uphold the ruling.”

SENATOR MARCO RUBIO APPLAUDS FEDERAL COURT RULING DECLARING OBAMACARE UNCONSTITUTIONAL

As legal challenge continues, Rubio also calls for up-or-down vote in the Senate

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Marco Rubio today issued the following statement following a Pensacola federal court’s ruling that ObamaCare is unconstitutional:

“Today’s ruling marks an important step towards undoing a health care law that creates uncertainty for job creators, threatens Medicare as Floridians know it and lays the foundation for government-run health care. I commend Attorney General Pam Bondi for her leadership role in preventing ObamaCare’s unconstitutional federal health insurance mandate from becoming a burden to Floridians. I also thank former Attorney General Bill McCollum for initiating this lawsuit under his watch.

“Even before ObamaCare passed, it was clear to the American people that this legislation should not become law. It was clear to the American people who stood up at town halls and ballot boxes across the country and voiced their opinions against it. It was clear to the non-partisan Congressional Research Service, which raised the very concerns about its constitutionality that the federal judge in Pensacola ruled on today. Unfortunately, none of these warning signs compelled ObamaCare’s supporters to take a hard look at the error of their ways.

“ObamaCare was a mistake. However, we cannot leave this decision in the hands of judges alone. The Senate Democrat leadership should follow the House’s lead and hold an up-or-down vote to repeal ObamaCare. The optimal outcome for Florida and the American people is to repeal the federal health care law and replace it with common sense reforms that will lower health care costs and get more Americans insured.”
