White House to Review Egypt Aid

Press Secretary Gibbs tells reporters Obama administration will rethink assistance “based events now and in the coming days.”

Decries violence, says White House continues to “monitor” situation that must “be solved by the Egyptian people.”

On Egypt: POTUS/VPOTUS have not spoken to Mubarak.

"I'll point you to what I've said on this. This is not about picking one person or one side. "

"The security personnel need to refrain from violence. The protesters need to refrain as well."

"The legitimate grievances have to be addressed... immediately."

"This is a matter that will be solved by the people in Egypt."

On broader moment in Middle East: "I don't want to generalize across the region. Countries are at different stages of political development."

On aid to Egypt: "We'll be reviewing our assistance posture based as events take place in the coming days."
