The President will read books – including his new book “Of Thee I Sing” — to approximately 90 2nd graders at Long Branch Elementary School in Arlington, Virginia. Long Branch is located near Fort Myer and many of the students are from military families. Long Branch’s students reflect Arlington’s diverse and changing population, hailing from more than 25 countries and speaking almost as many languages. Long Branch’s new science and computer labs provide unique educational opportunities for all of its learners. The fine arts and performing arts programs are among the most dynamic in Arlington. Student work in a wide variety of media brightens the building. Similarly, student concerts and musicals are popular community cultural events. Long Branch is one of 22 elementary schools in the Arlington Public Schools in Arlington, Va.
