Sink v. Scott

Florida gubernatorial candidates debate immigration, health reform and more at Nova Southeastern University Wednesday.

Sink:

"We should increase the penalties and fines on businesses who knowingly hire illegal immigrants because they are taking jobs away from Floridians and legal immigrants."

"Rick Scott is calling for deregulation of insurance companies in this state. That is something I would totally oppose. There has to be a way for insurance companies to stay honest frankly, otherwise they will charge whatever rate they please."

"Our children need to be held to national standards" and I think testing is one way.

"He hasn't made himself available to a single newspaper editorial board."

"I want to bring my values to the governor's office. I'm still that girl who grew up on a family farm."

"I don't want to be anybody's governor but yours."

Scott:

"It's common sense, if you're in our country illegally and you're stopped by law enforcement, they ought to be able to ask if they're legal or not, just like we get asked for our IDs."

"We need to come up with a work visa program that works for our employers."

"We have to make sure insurance companies treat policy-holders fairly. We have to make suer we treat insurance companies fairly that they can make a profit that they can stay in business."

"She supports everything Obama supports...if you believe Obama's plan for the country" is the right solution then you should vote for her.

"If I was a senior right now I would be scared to death that you would spend another four years in office."

"I believe marriage is between a man and a woman."

"My opponent is clearly an Obama liberal."

"You have a choice between a Tallahassee insider and an Obama liberal," and a businessperson who's created jobs.

"I'm going to cut state spending and I'm going to create private sector jobs."
