STATEMENT: JERRY BROWN REFUSES TO ADDRESS MATTER

For Immediate Release
Saturday, October 9, 2010

Please see the following statement from Andrea Jones Rivera spokesperson for Meg Whitman 2010 in response to an LA Times report that Jerry Brown has still refused to personally address the hundreds of media reports that he or an unidentified staffer called Meg Whitman a “whore”:

“As the LA Times has reported, ‘Jerry Brown has yet to address the matter’ surrounding his voicemail that referred to Meg Whitman as a ‘whore’. Instead of standing up on his ‘own two feet’ to identify who he was with at the time of the recording and who made this slur, Jerry Brown has gone into hiding. It’s been two days since reports surfaced about the slurs included in his voicemail, yet Jerry Brown has refused to answer media inquiries. Today he has gone so far as to avoid appearing at his own campaign’s ‘Day Of Action’. After spending months avoiding his 40 year political record, now Jerry Brown is continuing to insult the voters of California by avoiding taking responsibility for his own actions and the actions of his campaign staff.” –Andrea Jones Rivera, spokesperson Meg Whitman 2010
