Adviser sizes up potential GOP presidential candidates on Letterman Wednesday.

Axelrod on GOP 2012 candidates:

Trump: “It requires a big ego to run for president… I don’t think he could handle that.”

Huckabee: “A lot of the names you’re rolling off … all work for Fox News so if they all run for president there’s going to be a lot of openings over there so if you know anybody … send ‘em over.”

Romney: “He’s certainly going to run… he started off as sort of a moderate Republican … I always thought if he had stuck to who he was, he would be a far more formidable candidate.”

Palin: “I really don’t know … she too has her own special kind of charisma. I have a soft spot for her … I was at the Vice Presidential debate and, you know, she winked at me.”
