Halperin’s Take: Why Trump Is In The Mix

On “Morning Joe,” Mark Halperin talks about why the real-estate mogul’s name has been floated as a potential GOP candidate in 2012.

Watch the video or read what Halperin had to say after the jump.

Scarborough: “You’re reporting that Donald Trump’s name being tossed around in New Hampshire polls.”

Halperin: “Somebody is polling Donald Trump’s name reporting on ‘The Page’ this morning on Time.com that someone in September did a lot of polling in New Hampshire asking a lot of questions about Trump. The Republican field is so weak and so unsettled, there’s some candidates there who could develop into strong ones, but there’s no clear frontrunner the way the Republicans usually have. If Trump decides to run as a Republican, I think as we’ve seen in the past, he knows how to get attention. And I think you’re going to see Trump and others flirt with this thing until and unless somebody emerges as a clear, very heavy favorite on the Republican side.”
