Conway, Paul Face Off

Kentucky Senate candidates clash over taxes, Social Security and more on “Fox News Sunday.”

Watch excerpt and read highlights after the jump.

PAUL: “Look at whose money it is. It’s the people’s money, who earn the money, and we give up some to pay taxes. So I’m not seeing that as a cost to government.”

PAUL: “But we do have to admit that we have the baby boom generation getting ready to retire, and we’re going to double the amount of retirees … And to put our head in the sand and just say we’re just going to keep borrowing more money is not going to work. There will have to be changes for the younger generation.”

CONWAY: “There was not enough accountability in them … We had people getting bonuses after getting the bailouts.”

PAUL: “This is really about the president’s agenda … Do you support it or oppose it?”

CONWAY: “I’m not saying Dr. Paul is crazy. I think some of his ideas are outside the mainstream…He doesn’t understand Kentucky.”

CONWAY: It’s a “tremendous honor to be running for Wendell Ford’s Senate seat.”
PAUL: “I didn’t know it was Wendell Ford’s seat … I thought it was the people of Kentucky’s seat.”

PAUL: “I will vote for whoever comes out of the caucus as the leader, and I presume that will be Sen. McConnell.”
