Meek’s easy win suggests below-the-radar efforts could be big in November.

HALPERIN’S TAKE: The “old” “professional left” — labor unions — proved in Florida that they can put boots on the ground and turn out votes.  Through all the base battles, the White House and the Democratic leadership has maintained very good relations with the major labor unions.  If the machine revs up for the midterms, Democratic candidates can pick up enough points to win some close races they would otherwise lose.
