Americans Divided On Immigration

NBC survey finds 70% of whites back the AZ law, while only 31% of Hispanics support the measure.

And/But: 32% approve of Obama’s handling of immigration reform.

Conducted May 20-23, error margin 3.7 points.

HALPERIN’S TAKE: Unless the president can convince Republicans to work together to change public opinion as reflected in these numbers, the chances for a Bush-Obama-McCain (circa 2007) immigration compromise are non-existent.
