Mark Halperin’s three things to watch for in politics for Friday, June 5.
1. Watch as President Obama continues his travels overseas. Watch to see comes out of his time in Germany and France. Also watch for continued fallout from the speech he delivered in Cairo yesterday and his other discussions of plans for the Middle East. Keep an eye on the reaction coming from Israel and from the Arab world, as well as from American conservatives and Republicans.
2. Watch for new developments on heath care reform. Some key details of the administration’s eventual plan are being discussed in terms whether the president will support a public option and a requirement for all Americans to to be insured. Also watch to see if a more concrete plan develops to pay for whatever program the White House and the Hill can eventually agree on.
3. Watch to see if anything big happens domestically that forces the White House to lose its focus on Obama’s trip. Most of the president’s top staff are traveling with him, so watch to see how they’re able to handle domestic news, should it arise over the weekend.
