Mark Halperin’s three things to watch for in politics for Friday, April 3.
1. Watch as the Obamas continue to travel through Europe, today making stops in France and Germany. The White House has done a great job producing well-staged photo ops that play well in the United States and around the world. Watch to see if they keep that up today.
2. Watch to see the substance of what President Obama says and does today. He faces questions about what impact his European trip will have at home. Watch as he continues to do public events and tries to explain his trip to American audiences.
3. Watch the economy. There’s lots of debate about whether the economic atmosphere is improving, staying the same or getting worse. March’s jobless rate hit 8.5 percent, the highest in more than 25 years, but some other economic indicators have been more positive. Watch to see how the markets perform and where the debate goes today and this weekend.
