Mark Halperin’s three things to watch for in presidential politics for Friday, February 6.
1. Watch how the Senate works out its stimulus bill. Will they be able to agree on a centrist compromise that gets Republican votes without losing Democratic ones? Watch to see if the vote actually happens today or if it yet again stalls. If there is a vote, watch to see the vote totals.
2. Watch the Obama administration’s posture on the stimulus package. See if the White House becomes more confrontational or if it reaches out to more Republicans and centrists. It’s a choice the president’s team has had to make for several days and it continues to be an important one today. Watch to see what happens.
3. Watch for conservative opinions on the stimulus bill. Follow what House Republicans and others are saying in their attempts to define the Obama economic agenda.
