111th Congress Convenes

Both the Senate and the House are called into session midday Tuesday for the first time in 2009. IN THE SENATE: Cheney swears in newly and re-elected senators on the floor, including VP-elect Biden -- who has yet to resign his seat. IN THE HOUSE: Pelosi is re-elected as speaker, receives a standing ovation. Nine new senators and 54 House members are on the Hill Tuesday to start their freshman terms.
