Sunday NY Times: Despite Interview, Kennedy's Mystery Persists

Paper of Record: The prospective New York Senator "seemed less like a candidate than an idea of one: forceful but vague, largely undefined and seemingly determined to remain that way." At one point tells the reporters: “Have you guys ever thought about writing for, like, a woman’s magazine or something? I thought you were the crack political team.” Read more excerpts here. European Markets Build on Gains

Europe's major markets moved higher for a second straight day, gaining 1 to 2% during Tuesday morning trading. In Tokyo, the Nikkei closed 1.3% higher but, despite the positive session, the index closed with its worst-ever annual percentage fall, losing 42.1%. Permalink

RNC Chair "Shocked and Appalled" at Obama Parody

Mike Duncan blasts fellow Republican Chip Saltsman for distributing a CD including the parody song "Barack the Magic Negro." "I am shocked and appalled that anyone would think this is appropriate as it clearly does not move us in the right direction." Gingrich: "This is so inappropriate that it should disqualify any Republican National Committee candidate who would use it." Duncan is running for re-election as RNC chair against Saltsman and others. Saltsman says Republicans have the "good humor and good sense" to understand it's a parody. Permalink

The president-elect and his daughters leave their $9 million Hawaiian rental home Friday for a trip to Sea Life and Kokonuts Shave Ice and Snacks. The WashPost's "dean" envisions incoming Transportation Secretary LaHood, a former GOP congressman, battling former colleagues in Congress over infrastructure spending. Power Returning to Obama's Island
