Florida Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen ends two calls on her cell phone with the president-elect because she didn't believe it was him. When Obama finally did get her on the phone she apologized, said she thought it was a prank from a South Florida radio station. Permalink

Biden, Napolitano Briefed By WMD Commission

The VP-elect and incoming Homeland Security Secretary are given details of the commission's latest report at the Obama transition offices in D.C. Biden says in opening remarks: “This report is more than a warning about what we are doing wrong. It’s a pragmatic blueprint for how to get it right." Oprah to Bring Show to D.C. for Inauguration

The entertainment superstar tells "Access Hollywood" she has rented out the Opera House at the Kennedy Center to film her talk show the week of Jan. 20. "I'm going to break that right here; that's where I'm going to be. See you there... that's the place to be." Permalink

Chertoff Urges Successor to “Go Slow”

In Minnesota Recount, Both Sides Claim Lead

Coleman's campaign issues a release claiming Franken has "invented a story of a lead" in the vote totals after his campaign says they're up by 22 votes. Coleman led by 303 votes as of Tuesday night. All counties must submit vote totals by Friday. Permalink

Laura Bush confirms Wednesday that she and her husband will move to Texas’s third-largest city after Inauguration Day — though they don’t have a place to move to yet. Says she and her husband need to be careful with their holiday spending because "there might be a new house coming along." Permalink

Commissioners in Alabama’s Perry County approve a measure to close county offices the second Monday in November to celebrate their new annual holiday in honor of the president-elect. Permalink

Obama Taps Richardson for Commerce
